Computer software is protected by copyright law.
Normally software is supplied to schools under licences which
restrict use to a single computer, or allow material to be used
on a network, or the Authority may have taken out global
licences. The terms of these licences must be adhered to.
Copying computer software without permission is illegal. Some
licences however may permit the making of a single back-up copy.
Check licence details first.
Similarly, if downloading freeware or
shareware material from the Internet check and adhere to the
conditions set by the provider.
