The
1988 Copyright Act
makes it illegal to store copyright material by electronic means
without permission.
Therefore normally you must seek permission if you want to type,
scan or fax copyright material into a computer database. However
from 1st April 2008 the new CLA licence permits Highland Schools
to scan and retype limited digital copies of extracts from
copyright protected existing print resources ( books, journals
and magazines). The additional licence cost being met this year
by Learning and Teaching Scotland under the "CLA/LTS
GLOW Virtual Learning Environment Pilot Scheme.”
