Followed by ‘Highland Council, the licence number (contact Iain Mackay if you do not know this number) and the year the document is published.

  • The note © Crown Copyright’ followed by the authority name and licence number above will suffice for a finished reproduction of less than 200 sq.cms.

  • Where multiple maps are printed on separate pages it is only necessary to print one full set of acknowledgements on a prominent page and to label subsequent maps with © Crown Copyright’.  Followed by the authority name and licence number.

  • For small scale maps (1:25000 scale and smaller) reproduced in colour, the map area must not exceed 625 sq.cms. (approx. A4 size)

  • Ordnance Survey material included in a school prospectus, magazine or web site, which is sold or distributed outside the school, requires an additional licence from the OS as this is regarded as general publishing.

  • Individual students may acquire extracts of OS mapping from libraries under fair dealing provisions or from authorities where specific authority information is required on an OS base as part of their studies.   A letter of authority from the school however is required in the latter case.

  • Schools may obtain extracts of the 1:50 000 scale OS Landranger Map mapping free of charge from the ‘Get-a-map’ service on their web site at www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk
