Films in any format may be shown for the purposes of instruction
in schools to an audience consisting of staff and pupils only.
However, film distributors were concerned at the amount of
movies being shown purely for entertainment in schools, so the
Public Video Screening Licence was introduced. This allows
schools to show films brought in by staff and pupils at end-of-
term treats, wet weather days and the like.
Highland schools
will be surveyed to see whether a blanket licence is
