Generally anything produced by an employee as part of their work
for the Council, or commissioned by the Council, or using
Council facilities (e.g. using ICT equipment, getting office
staff to word process the material, is Highland Council’s
copyright.) If an employee wishes to establish their
own copyright they should clarify this at the outset.
The following
notice must be printed on the cover of every pack produced:
“The copyright of the contents of this material is owned by
Highland Council and may be freely reproduced by schools within
the control of the Highland Council. A licence for other
educational institutions to reproduce this material must be
obtained from the Quality Development Manager of Highland
Council’s Education, Culture and Sports Department. A charge may
be levied for this licence.”
Incorporating other people’s work into teaching and learning
packs
The following brief notes are pointers only and should be used
in conjunction with these guidelines and advice from the
Copyright Officer.
-
Assume that everything not produced by yourself is
someone else’s copyright
-
This includes published clip art, borders etc. These are
often free provided that they are not used for profit.
Read the copyright statements carefully and if in doubt,
ask for permission to use them.
