The licence does not extend to the making of copies from originals which are
themselves copies of the original published edition.

No copies shall be sold, hired out or otherwise disposed of for gain.

Copies must be destroyed at the end of licence year (31st March) or at end of
the academic year beginning in the licence year.

No systematic or repeated copying of the same licensed material or part thereof
for any one class, lesson or course of study beyond the above limits is
permitted within the academic year.

Faxed published material is outwith the terms of this licence.

The
CLA licence does not cover printed music (including the words), exam papers,
newspapers,
maps, charts, books of tables,
workbooks and work cards.
Correspondence courses are excluded from the CLA licence except for Open
University and National Extension College course materials.

Excluded
artistic categories include slide
collections, film stills, the logos from advertisements and logos and trademarks
in general.
The CLA licence does not
cover material published on the internet or held on CD/DVD or similar electronic
formats.

Every school should have lists of
CLA Excluded Works and Publishers, which should be displayed beside the
photocopiers not used solely for admin. These lists are updated annually
and are published in the “Clarion” newsletter also sent
to schools by the Copyright Officer.
