As the CLA licence does not cover newspapers and as the Council does not have a blanket licence with the Newspaper Licensing Agency (www.nla.co.uk), wholesale copying from these publications without permission is prohibited.   Under library " fair dealing " provisions however, staff and pupils may make a single copy of one article from an issue of a newspaper for the purposes of research or private study.

As most newspapers now have "online" editions, internet users should check and abide by the on-screen copyright notices before downloading, or printing out material from these sites.
