A contemporary and humorous Scottish novel set in Argyll and Glasgow.   Prentice McHoan was brought up in the Argyll town of Gallanach, is now a student in Glasgow, and has come home for his grandmother’s funeral.   Flashbacks unfold characters and family saga, relationships and aspirations, tensions and love.   Prentice’s Uncle Rory is the central enigmatic figure.   What happened to him ?   Has he ‘gone away the crow road’ as Janice feared ?   Prentice and Ashley unravel mysteries of the past and face new futures at the end of this energetic novel.   A film version has been made.
