This is the true story of one
man's courage and extra-ordinary
personality. Oskar Schindler was a womaniser, drinker
and flamboyant businessman, who was touched by the plight of the Jews under Nazi
occupation. He saved hundreds of them from
the atrocities, through his influential contacts,
bribery, generosity and vision. Schindler used all his
negotiating skills and great charm to save
many from the certain hell of Auschwitz.
A disturbing yet important book which is the result of thorough
research and interviews with survivors.
It was originally published as Schindler's
Ark which won the Booker Prize in 1982. The Spielberg film version won 7 Oscars
in 1994.
