Tom Crick is a history teacher whose subject is about to be dropped because of ‘lack of relevance’.   So Tom begins to tell his pupils ‘relevant’ history; the history of the Fenlands around them and his own personal history, of teenage love affairs, guilty secrets and mental instability.
