by Louise Hide
Published by Mammoth
Life on
the North sea rigs, how this affect the families of the men, and a
love for jazz music are combined in
this hard-hitting book. George Dean works two weeks on,
two weeks off the rigs. Major problems erupt when he is
at home. George drinks heavily, gets aggressive and
falls out with everyone. Daughter Liz shares her Dad’s
interest in jazz, and plays the saxophone. She is
practicing for the gig which may be her big break. The
main action of the book occurs on the rig Blue Gorse, giving
realistic insight into the dangers of the job and leading up to a
major tragedy.
An exciting read with a moving ending.
