A fourteen year old Jewish boy is murdered by an Arab terrorist
shortly after his arrival in Israel. His cousin
Nili is, inexplicably, spared, and finds herself having to deal not
only with her grief and shock, but with a very difficult moral
dilemma. The background to the story is the longstanding
conflict between Palestinians and Jews in Israel, and it becomes
clear that death is not the only awful consequence of war.
Set in 1992.
The story of Nili’s mother Lesley is told in One more river,
which is set in 1967, when the family first came to Israel from
Canada. |
