The Divided City by

Graham
and Joe both live for football; they are talented, and play well together –
their dream is to be picked for the Glasgow City team. The only thing is that
they come from different backgrounds – Graham is a Rangers supporter whose
Granda wants him to take part in the Protestant Orange Walks; Joe’s family are
Catholic. The boys just want to play football, but the old rivalries keep
surfacing. What is more important, the religion or the game?
Then, taking a short cut home from football practise one night, Graham’s life is
changed dramatically. He witnesses a gang knifing a young man, and has to decide
whether to get involved or take the easy way out. This leads to him and Joe
forming an unusual alliance off the pitch, to help Kyoul who is an asylum
seeker, and to questioning what is really at stake for Glasgow as a city. Their
friendship is put to the test, and they have to decide what really matters to
them.
Very thought provoking, especially if you are into football. |
