The Hunted by
Alex Shearer
Published by Macmillan
The
Hunted is set in a future world where medical ‘advances’ have enabled people to
live much longer. There is however, a terrible price to pay – most adults
are infertile. Natural born children are extremely rare: they are bought and
sold, but scariest of all, abducted by the Kiddernappers.
Deet wins Tarrin in a card game and rents him out to childless couples who want
to experience life as parents. Tarrin doesn’t know if his parents are
alive or dead but lives in the hope that he will find them. But time is
running out. Deet is delighted with the steady income that Tarrin provides and
would hate to see it end. That’s why he wants Tarrin to have the ‘Peter
Pan’ – an operation that would make him grow old inside the body of a boy.
Can Tarrin escape the ghastly ‘PP’ or will he be forced to give in to Deet’s
greedy desires?
A sci-fi thriller that explores the dark side of eternal youth. |
