These  are based on good practice very helpfully submitted by schools.   They are all based either on national 5-14 curriculum guidelines or Highland Council guidelines already issued to schools.

HMIE expect schools to put policy into practice to meet their own particular local needs and circumstances. Although these exemplars are not definitive Highland Council School policies they do provide a common policy structure for all schools as well as exemplars of good practice.

It is expected that, if they have not already done so, when Headteachers come to develop their own school policies in consultation with their staff, they will use these exemplars as a starting point.
